જન્માષ્ટમી એ કૃષ્ણ ભગવાન નો જન્મ દિવસ છે . એ દિવસે ભગવાન મથુરા ની જેલ માં જન્મ્યા હતા . તેમના માતા નું નામ દેવકી અને પિતા નું નામ વાસુદેવ હતું . ભગવાન કૃષ્ણ દેવકી ના આઠમા સંતાન હતા . તેમનો જન્મ રાક્ષસો નો વિનાશ કરવા માટે થયો હતો .
